YMCA of the Brandywine Valley branches run thousands of programs throughout the year - everything from childcare and summer camp, to group exercise for adults, and swim lessons for kids in our Association’s 16 pools. The YMCA’s whole reason for being is to offer opportunities that improve the quality of life for people of all incomes, faiths, races, ages and abilities.

How do I join the Heritage Society?

The simple act of making an outright or planned gift to the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley Endowment Fund qualifies you for membership in this exclusive society.

A commitment to the Heritage Society is the primary means by which a strong endowment is built capable of providing lasting support. It is also the greatest confirmation of the YMCA mission and vision that a friend of the Y can make.


Members of the Heritage Society Enjoy:

• An invitation to the special Annual Heritage Society Recognition Event
• Educational and informational articles
• Invitations to seminars on estate and planned giving strategies, health and nutrition lectures, and social activities.
• Recognition in the Annual Report, unless anonymity is desired.

Types of Donations

An outright gift - Immediate gifts of cash, appreciated securities or tangible property. In this way, each member not only benefits from the good that will be done, but also from current income tax savings.

Beneficiary designations - Add the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley as a revocable beneficiary of your IRA, pension plan, bank account, or insurance policy. In addition, should you wish to contribute a life insurance policy that is no longer needed to protect current beneficiaries, you could realize substantial income tax deductions.

Wills & Revocable living trusts - Designations may be for a percentage of your estate, a specified amount, or from the residue from your estate. It permits you to retain all your assets during your lifetime. Bequests qualify for estate deductions.

Charitable Trusts - After providing you with income during your lifetime, the trust principal passes to the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley Heritage Society. With all or a portion of your gift eventually directed to the YMCA, you are eligible to receive a charitable deduction.
