Fun Community Theatre

It all started in 2001 when Jim Norton, a retired Coatesville English teacher, directed the children's musical Annie Jr. with the Octorara Community Recreation Commission (now the YMCA) in Cochranville.

The play was a huge success, owing to the hard work and dedication
of the 28 cast members, crew and parents. The Children's Summer Theater Project has since become a Governor's School of Excellence, a thrilling testament to the quality of the program.

What About the Adults?
Following the first show, the Annie Jr. cast turned their attention to forming an adult theatre group, and word went out that folks with theater skills
(acting, singing, dancing, music, costuming, set building, stage lighting) should come together. They did, and the Red Brick Players were formed, taking their name from the old red brick West Fallowfield High School, which is their home. The first production, Something's Afoot, a musical mystery with a cast of nine, sold out with full
houses, rousing applause and uproarious laughter.

Four Seasons: Noteworthy Highlights
The Red Brick Players have performed four to five plays for the past four seasons, including Grease, Godspell, and most recently, the hit Broadway musical Urinetown. Urinetown was the most ‘professional’ performance yet, and was very well attended in part because of the
publicity generated by the play's title.

One of the highlights of every Red Brick season is the annual Christmas play. Here the Bricks call upon the remarkable talents of the Children's Summer Theater Project, with adults and children taking the stage together. The first season saw the heartwarming story of the Herdmans in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, by Barbera Robinson. The 2005 season was Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in the stage adaptation Scrooge, The Stingiest Man in Town. This year, a cast of 43 performed Here's Love, the story
of Kris Kringle and the Miracle on 34th St., set to music.

What's Next
The Red Bricks always strive to push themselves and keep it fresh. Check back for details for the next show!
