Message from the Campaign Chair

Dear Friends,

In 1998, the Kennett Y opened its doors at 101 Race Street. Originally planned for 5,000 people, the facility is now home to over 11,000 people and a source of community pride, consistently recognized among the top Ys in the nation.

Three-year-olds explore their world in preschool, teenage boys shoot hoops after school in the gym, seniors catch up with friends after their morning workout, moms find time to exercise and de-stress, and families create memories while getting healthy together.

The Kennett Y is the very heart of our diverse and growing community. However, the capability of our facility has been outpaced. To remain vital and meet the needs of our growing community, it is clear that the
Kennett Y must also grow.

It is with great hope and anticipation that I announce the latest chapter in Kennett's story - a Capital Campaign that, if successful, will allow the Kennett Y to impact more children, families and adults in the years to come.

Strengthening the Heart of our Community

The Capital Campaign for the Kennett Y is needed to take our facility into the future, with expansion of the wellness center and family recreation areas, construction of a warm-water pool and a water-therapy pool for seniors, children and individuals with special needs, creation of a Holistic Health Studio, a new classroom for arts and humanities programs and much more.

Thanks to the support of our community, the Kennett Y has grown from a simple storefront facility to a cherished home away from home for many.

With your help and involvement, the Kennett Y can continue to make a very real difference in our community now and in the future. The time is now. Please join me in this challenge!
