Kennett Montessori at the YMCA offers a holistic educational experience for children ages 3 to 5. The YMCA is founded on the principles of spirit, mind, and body, and no where is this approach more evident than in our Montessori school. Graduates of Kennett Montessori excel with the strong academic grounding they receive during their time with us. Area kindergarten teachers frequently report our students are very well prepared for success in math and reading. Our students enjoy extensive enrichment experiences, such as music, gardening, and Spanish language. Our unique YMCA location allows us to offer on-site swim lessons, yoga instruction and gym activities. Artists-in-residence, library visits and other activities round out the offerings.

Kennett Montessori at the YMCA was founded in September 2004. Our Montessori Preschool is the first Montessori school in the nation to be housed in a YMCA building. The program began as a half-day preschool with 28 students.  Now Montessori preschool has grown extensively and offers 2 morning classes with a combined total of 31 students, an afternoon program with 12 students and a full day program with 24 students.  Kennett Montessori at the YMCA offers a program with freedom and structure based on respect with space designed to be peaceful and uncluttered. Montessori facility are highly qualified which allows our program the ability to offer what other preschools cannot; swim lessons, children’s yoga, Spanish lessons, music and library are all included in your child’s curriculum. Extra enrichment activities in the afternoons at the YMCA are also available as an added bonus and offer a unique preschool experience.
